On‑Chain Equities Reach Historic $1.2 Billion Market Capitalization

This mark reflects years of experimentation and expansion into what blockchain technology could do for the broader economic system. Tokenized stocks first appeared around 2020 as pilot projects, but since then, the market has been slowly crawling towards broader mainstream adoption.
The concept of tradeable stocks in-chain is often considered one of the best use cases for how distributed ledgers could bring transparency, faster settlement, and global accessibility to markets that had long been restricted by geography and infrastructure.
In 2025, blockchain-based equities moved on from just a novelty to something tangible and increasingly more popular. Regulatory watchdogs like the SEC and CFTC began working closely to develop clearer rulesets, paving the way for tokenized equities to move into the mainstream.
Throughout the year, regulators shifted from a posture of uncertainty to one of cautious support. On top of ending “regulation through enforcement," where the SEC either resolved or flat-out dropped most of the biggest cases of crypto-related security crimes, the Commission also introduced a transformative framework that categorized digital assets into clearer buckets: NFTs, tokenized securities, and other blockchain‑based products.
With a clearer regulatory path forward, some of the largest institutions in the world have shown interest in tokenized equities. BlackRock, JPMorgan, Coinbase, among many others, are already exploring tokenization as part of their broader shift toward crypto-related products.
